CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. (WHCU) – Authorities are investigating a robbery in the Town of Cortlandville.

According to State Police, it happened at the Cortland Carpet Outlet on Route 281 around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. A female employee says a black man with a skinny build, wearing a face covering, tan sweatshirt, and jeans, pulled a knife on her and demanded cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

The employee suffered non-life-threatening lacerations to her hands and was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for treatment. A person matching the suspect’s description was detained, however, authorities say that man was cooperative, and they determined he was not involved in the robbery.

Due to the picture quality of the security photos, State Police are asking anyone nearby to check home and business surveillance images for a person matching the suspect’s description walking in that area between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Police at (607)-561-7400.
