MORAVIA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cayuga County man will serve nearly four years in federal prison.

As part of a previous guilty plea, 54-year-old Duane Hollenbeck, of Moravia, admitted to possessing an illegal short-barreled Armalite-15-style tactical rifle. Federal law requires this kind of firearm to be registered with the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

Investigators reportedly found numerous ghost guns and large-capacity magazines at Hollenbeck’s property last year after a gun retailer reported he had been purchasing a ‘concerning’ amount of ammunition.

Hollenbeck was given a sentence of 41 months in a federal courtroom on Friday, July 21, 2023.
