First HAB of season reported at Cayuga Lake

AURORA, NY (WHCU) — Cayuga Lake has received its first harmful algal bloom report of the season.

According to the Cayuga Lake Watershed Network, the bloom was spotted Monday in Seneca Falls. Additional blooms have been reported in the area, and the Cayuga Lake State Park Beach is now temporarily closed.

New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation officially opens its HAB reporting season on July 1.
