Fugitive arrested in Cortland after standoff

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – One man is in custody after a standoff with authorities in Cortland.

Members of the Cortland Police Department and Cortland County Sheriff’s Office assisted the US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force and NYS Parole on Friday after locating a wanted man at a residence on Owego Street in the city. The man was reportedly armed and barricaded himself inside an apartment. He was successfully taken into custody after several hours. No injuries were sustained, and the gun was recovered from the scene. Authorities say more information about the suspect will be released this week.
