Groton man charged with felony in Schuyler County

CAYUTA, NY (WHCU) – A Groton man is facing a felony in Schuyler County.

Schuyler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 37-year-old Billyray Ward on June 8 after a traffic stop in the Town of Cayuta. Ward, who allegedly had an edged weapon in the vehicle, is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon. He was additionally charged with a misdemeanor for driving without a valid license.

Ward is out on bail.

A previous version of this story reported that Mr. Ward was in possession of a firearm and was remanded to Schuyler County Jail. WHCU has since learned that Ward was in possession of an edged weapon and is out on bail.
