ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A new bill in Congress would prevent Governor Hochul from housing asylum seekers in New York schools.

Congressman Marc Molinaro says the Schools Not Shelters Act prohibits schools that receive federal funding from being used as temporary shelters for migrants. Molinaro says “our schools are not shelters.” The bill was introduced on Friday.

Hochul is seeking to shelter migrants in several SUNY schools.
