PORT BYRON — A 37-year-old school bus driver from central New York has been arrested on charges related to child pornography.
State police in Auburn and Waterloo say David Mangan of Syracuse faces charges after his arrest Wednesday in the Cayuga County village of Port Byron. Authorities have not explained what Mangan is accused of doing or what prompted an investigation, but Port Byron School District officials say Mangan was arrested for possession of child pornography.
Mangan worked a regular bus route for Port Byron schools for four months, but has been fired. He worked for Birnie Bus Service, which has a contract with the school district for transportation.
“A school bus aide has always been present when the accused transported students; he was never alone with students and all of the buses are equipped with cameras and audio,” the district said in a statement.
Mangan is now being held in the Seneca County Jail.
