ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler is seeking higher office.

Sigler has announced a run for New York State Senate in the 52nd district against incumbent Lea Webb. Sigler, who is a Republican, reportedly filed for the run in July.

The Ithaca Voice reports Sigler has become the first person to announce their candidacy in the race, which isn’t until next year. Last November Webb won a two-year term.
