WATKINS GLEN, NY (WHCU) – A Watkins Glen ‘sticker shop’ has been raided by police.

Reports say uniformed and plain clothes authorities were seen entering Raceway Convenience on Monday afternoon. It’s the former location of Fat Daddy’s sticker shop on Franklin Street, which was similarly raided in 2022. Raceway Convenience is not a legally licensed cannabis dispensary.

Sticker shops operate through a previously tenuous legal loophole where a shop owner could sell a consumer a sticker and gift marijuana. State officials say recent legislation has closed that loophole and led to a large increase in illicit cannabis shop closures. According to Governor Kathy Hochul, legal retailers reported a 27% increase in month-over-month sales in May.
