2 dead in Groton mobile home fire, sheriff says

GROTON, NY (607NewsNow) — Two people are dead after a fire in Groton.

Tompkins County Sheriff Derek Osborne says it happened around 12:30 this morning at the Valley View Mobile Home Park.

“Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed. Deputies were advised that two individuals were inside. Groton Fire Department was already on scene. Deputies assisted fire personnel in the extrication of one occupant through a window,” Osborne stated.

“Agencies assisting at the scene included Groton Fire and Ambulance, Dryden Fire and Ambulance, Bangs Ambulance, McLean Fire, Ithaca Airport Crash Fire Rescue, and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control,” Osborne added.

A cause of the early morning fire has not been determined.
