CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — In 2025, a fire destroyed Camp Owahta’s Arts & Crafts building and damaged critical electrical infrastructure serving other areas of the camp.

After the 2025 fire, the camp is still looking for funds to complete repairs needed to bring the cabins, bathhouses, electrical systems, program spaces, accessibility, waterfront and pond areas, safety infrastructure, and other aging camp facilities back to their original vigor.

The camp, established in 1952, is located in McGraw and spans over 128 acres. This summer, more than 300 children still attended the camp despite its damaged state. The fundraiser, taking place on October 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., will be at the Cortland Country Music Park. Tickets for the event are $25, and include dinner, live music, and a silent auction.

Donations of any size are welcome to help the camp reach its goal and restore it to its former glory. Find more information on the event and how to contribute here.
