BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) — New York State funding will benefit the Addiction Center of Broome County.

On Aug. 31, State Senator Lea Webb delivered a $150,000 check to the organization. Carmela Pirich, executive director of the center, said the group is “honored and so grateful” to receive the funding.

The money will help the center move its main office from West State Street to Charles Street in Binghamton.

“The relocation will assist with adding new offices for therapeutic activities and a specialized treatment suite for children and adolescents who have been impacted by substance use disorder,” Pirich said. “Being able to expand our services will help fill a critical need in the Southern Tier.”

Webb said the center does work in “crucial” areas including mental health treatment and care management.
