NICHOLS, NY (607NewsNow) – A second person has been arrested and charged in connection with a missing child investigation in Nichols.

On October 20, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office announced that Lukas Cartwright, of Owego, has been charged with kidnapping, conspiracy, and perjury for his alleged role in the disappearance of 8-year-old Amelia Lawrence earlier this month.

The 41-year-old, who was arrested on Oct. 9, is being held in jail without bail. It follows the Oct. 7 arrest of 41-year-old Danielle James, who faces charges of kidnapping and child endangerment. James remains in custody on $500,000 cash bail.

Amelia Lawrence, who was first reported missing on Oct. 5, was ultimately found safe after a two-day search.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
