Authorities seek to ID owner of abandoned dog in Southport

SOUTHPORT, NY (607NewsNow) – Authorities are investigating an abandoned dog in Chemung County.

On April 25, the pup was found in a small crate at the top of Mt. Zoar Road in Southport.

Officials say whoever left the dog also left a zip-lock bag of kibble and a water bottle typically used for guinea pigs. The crate was too small for the dog’s size.

Anyone who recognizes the dog or has information relevant to the investigation is asked to call Elmira Animal Control and Shelter at (607) 737-5767.
