ATHENS, PA (607NewsNow) – A Berkshire man who led police on a lengthy chase earlier this year has been sentenced.

David Keener was given a minimum of six months and a maximum of two years last week for aggravated felony assault and two misdemeanors.

The 37-year-old was originally charged with five felonies and 24 misdemeanors after eluding six law enforcement agencies for 28 miles in New York and Pennsylvania on March 1.

The pursuit ultimately ended after Keener ditched his car on an ice slab in New York and jumped into the Susquehanna River.

Several officers were injured, and equipment and vehicles sustained damage in the incident.
