Cayuga Heights loses public works director to Cortland

CAYUGA HEIGHTS, NY (CortacaToday) — Cayuga Heights is losing a key member of its Department of Public Works.

Village Mayor Linda Woodard says DPW Director Mike Wiese is heading to Cortland to become the superintendent of public works. She calls the departure a “tremendous loss.”

“It hurts,” Woodard says. “He’s really done an incredibly good job, and he’s going to be difficult to replace.”

She adds she’ll have more responsibilities in the coming weeks, as a new DPW director is sought.

“Until we find somebody, that’s going to be more work for me,” Woodard says.

The village increased her weekly hours from 15 to 20 last month.

Nic Dovi, the former superintendent of public works in Cortland, retired in June. He served the city for over 20 years.
