ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Temperatures will drop far below zero tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for much of the Southern Tier. Wind chills between 15 and 25 degrees below zero are expected, which could lead to frostbite on exposed skin in a half hour.

The advisory will be in effect from seven o’clock tonight through 10 o’clock tomorrow morning. If you do need to go out, the NWS strongly suggests wearing a hat and gloves to reduce the risk of bodily damage.
