CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A man convicted of assaulting a Cortland County corrections officer faces more time behind bars.
On January 27, 52-year-old Drahcir Parson was found guilty of felony criminal mischief.
Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti says Parson caused $1,500 of damage to a corrections department transport van in August 2024 on his way to Auburn Correctional Facility.
“I’m gratified that the jury was able to see this case for what it was,” Perfetti said. “As a community, we cannot tolerate inmates damaging property of the Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division without accountability.”
Parson, who is currently incarcerated on the November 2022 assault charge, faces two to four years in state prison at his sentencing on March 16. Perfetti has indicated he will seek a consecutive sentence, meaning Patterson’s time would be served after his current prison term.
