Cornell University graduate wins the 2024 World Series of Poker Main Event

LAS VEGAS, NY (CortacaToday) — Per Berk Communications, Cornell University graduate Jonathan Tamayo has won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event at the Horseshoe Las Vegas.

After six weeks of the tournament, Tamayo emerged victorious among a record-breaking 10,112 competitors and claimed the $10 million first place prize. This was the largest first place prize in WSOP history, with the total prize pool coming out to $94,041,600.

Tamayo also won the 2024 Main Event bracelet, which was custom made by Jostens and complete with about 445 grams of 10-karat yellow gold and 2,253 precious gemstones, including 1,948 round genuine diamonds, 230 black onyx stones, and 75 genuine red rubies.

This is the second consecutive year that an American has won the WSOP Main Event title, with Daniel Weinman winning in 2023. Tamayo’s long-time friend and 2015 champion Joe McKeehen was there to present him with the bracelet.
