ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Cornell is updating student guidelines in response to an incident that happened nearly a year ago.

The university has a new clause in its Housing & Residential Life Community Living Standards banning the processing of wild animals in communal kitchens.

The move comes after two students skinned and butchered a bear in a kitchen at Ganedago Hall last September. The students were not criminally charged or disciplined, as the bear was hunted legally. However, the communal kitchen at the residence hall was closed for several days to be cleaned.
