AUBURN, NY (607NewsNow) – A former correctional officer will spend time behind bars.
On September 9, Gregory Gorman, of Moravia, pleaded guilty to felony drug possession, felony promoting prison contraband, and misdemeanor official misconduct.
The 30-year-old admitted to introducing heroin into the Cayuga Correctional Facility while working as a CO and possessing over half an ounce of cocaine in March 2026. In addition to the charges, Gorman was required to resign from the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS).
“This defendant betrayed the trust placed in him as a correctional officer and put the safety and security of our correctional facilities at risk,” said Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci. “Drugs have no place inside our correctional facilities, and we will continue to work closely with DOCCS and law enforcement to hold accountable anyone who attempts to bring contraband into our prisons.”
Gorman faces a determinate sentence of three years in state prison and two years of post-release supervision on the drug charge. The sentence for the prison contraband charge will be served concurrently. Additionally, he will face the maximum sentence of 364 days on the official misconduct charge.
Gorman’s sentencing is set for November 2026.
