CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Grant money is available through the Cortland County Health Department.

Up to $35,000 in mini grants from the Tobacco Free Zone program will be awarded to address the negative outcomes of tobacco use in individuals and communities within Cortland, Tompkins, or Chenango Counties.

Projects should focus on tobacco use in multi-unit housing or shared outdoor space, product waste, marketing, and sales. The chosen activities must occur between February 1, 2026, and April 30, 2026, but there is potential for additional funding afterward.

If chosen, Tobacco Free Zone staff will provide assistance for implementation, reporting, and budgeting responsibilities, and recipients will enter a formal agreement with Cortland County. Funding is contingent upon availability of funds from the NYS Department of Health and allocation to Cortland County.

Applications are due by December 18 at 11:30 a.m. on the Cortland County website.
