Cortland County Office for the Aging hosting free scam prevention program

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — The Cortland County Office for the Aging is partnering with SilverShield to offer a free Scam Prevention Program designed to help older adults identify, avoid, and report scams.

The program will be held on Tuesday, June 16th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Age Well Center at 165 Main Street in Cortland.

“Scammers continue to target older adults through phone calls, emails, text messages, and online schemes,” said a representative of the Cortland County Office for Aging. “Our partnership with SilverShield gives community members practical tools and resources to help prevent fraud before it
happens.”

Participants will learn how to identify common scams, financial exploitation tactics, and will gain access to SilverShield’s free scam prevention resources. Learn more about the event on the Cortland County Office for the Aging website here.
