Cortlandville man accused of strangling, cutting victim in domestic dispute

CORTLANDVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortlandville man faces multiple charges.

On August 17, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a physical domestic dispute at a home in the Town of Cortlandville.

Deputies say 57-year-old James Plaches strangled and cut someone with a knife during the altercation. The victim, who was known to Plaches, was allegedly choked to the point of unconsciousness.

Plaches is charged with assault, strangulation, and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies. He was arraigned and released with an appearance ticket for August 27 in Cortlandville Town Court.
