Fundraising campaign launched for Dryden family in fatal house fire

DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – Money is being raised to help the family involved in a devastating fatal house fire in Dryden.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the family of 31-year-old Katherine Gray, 30-year-old Chrissy Oralls, and Oralls’ 3-year-old daughter, Paisley Wood.

All three died in the April 1 fire, along with four dogs. Gray and Oralls were nieces of David Welch, 54, who rents the property on Cortland Road with his wife, Winona. Welch sustained injuries in the blaze and remains hospitalized. Winona was not home at the time of the fire.

According to the GoFundMe page, Oralls was also the Welch’s adopted daughter. Oralls and her daughter were living with the Welch’s, and Gray was visiting from Whitney Point. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, and officials announced on Thursday that high winds were a factor in the rapid spread of the fire and the difficulty putting it out.

The campaign is now seeking to raise $20,000 to support Winona and the family with temporary housing, medical bills, and funeral expenses.
