ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Hangar Theatre is receiving state funding.

State Sen. Lea Webb says $250,000 from the New York Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Stability, and Technology Program (CREST) will go toward renovations at the Ithaca theater, including replacing the HVAC system, parking lot resurfacing, and a new tent for KIDDSTUFF.

“The capital improvements funded by the CREST grant will help us take much-needed steps towards making both the indoor and outdoor spaces more comfortable, accessible, and beautiful,” Producing Artistic Director Shirley Serotsky said.

The funding reflects a commitment “to strengthening institutions that make our communities so special,” Webb said. “The Hangar Theatre is a treasure in our region.”

The Hangar Theatre opened on July 11, 1975 and is currently celebrating 50 years of shows and programming to the Ithaca community.
