CAROLINE, NY (607NewsNow) – The Tompkins County Whole Health Department (TCWH) is trying to rule out rabies exposure in a dog bite.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on August 16 on Landon Road in the Caroline/Slaterville area.

The victim was bitten on a walk while attempting to protect their own pet from the biting dog, which is described as small and black. TCWH is trying to verify the vaccination status of the biting dog to rule out rabies infection and post-exposure treatment.
