ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A cat bite is under investigation in Ithaca.

The Environmental Health Division of Tompkins County Whole Health is gathering information on the bite, which reportedly happened around 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 29. The cat, which is described as white with a blue collar, is said to have bitten someone near Gimme Coffee on North Cayuga Street.

“The cat was observed wandering around the streets for a little while before the bite took place,” Tompkins County Whole Health said in a release. “The cat was not behaving aggressively but bit the person as they were trying to coax the cat away from the street and oncoming traffic.”

The Environmental Health Division seeks to verify the health of the biting cat through an at-home observation. Anyone with information is urged to call 607-274-6688.
