HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – A happy ending in Homer.

.On Oct.19, a juvenile bald eagle rescued near Homer earlier this summer was successfully released back into the wild.

The release took place in the area where the young raptor was originally found, with the Homer police officer involved in the initial rescue, along with the DEC.

The rescue effort began July 12, after a member of the Homer Police Department responded to a report of an injured bird just outside the village on Route 281.

Upon arriving, the officer located a juvenile bald eagle and helped secure it safely while waiting for the DEC to arrive. The eagle was then taken to Cornell for treatment and rehabilitation.
