LAFAYETTE, NY (607NewsNow) – Several people are recovering after a large crash on Interstate 81 in Onondaga County.

On January 15, slippery road conditions led to a multi-vehicle collision on I-81, just south of exit 73 in Lafayette.

Troopers say 37 vehicles, including cars, SUVs, trucks, and tractor-trailers, were involved in the accident. In all, eight people were sent to the hospital for medical treatment. Two patients have serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Both the southbound and northbound lanes of I-81 were closed in that area for several hours.
