ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Regional housing assistance programs are getting state funding.

Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services (INHS) has received a $178,000 grant from New York’s Access to Home program.

The money will be used to make accessibility upgrades to homes for people with disabilities. Officials say the program helps disabled people remain safely in their homes or return to their homes instead of an institutional setting.

Elsewhere locally, Tioga Opportunities, Inc. has received $150,000 through the Access to Home program.
