ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services (INHS) is getting a boost from the federal government.

On April 17, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced over $5 million in grants to nonprofits in the national NeighborWorks America network.

INHS is receiving $398,000 to support operations.

“NeighborWorks America is focused on improving the lives of New Yorkers across the state and Americans across the country,” said Senator Gillibrand. “Their goal is to even the playing field for so many by expanding housing stock, revitalizing neighborhoods, and creating economic opportunities. I worked hard to secure this funding and am thrilled to announce that they will keep on doing critical work throughout New York and beyond.”

As a ranking member, Gillibrand helped secure the funding through the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD).

Elsewhere in the Southern Tier, Arbor Housing and Development, based in Corning, is receiving $267,000. Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. is also getting $254,000.
