Ithaca Big Lots to close, one of 10 in NY

ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – Big Lots in Ithaca is closing.

After previously saying it would close around three dozen stores, the discount retail chain announced on Friday it would shutter over 100 locations across the country, including Ithaca and Canandaigua, after posting a $205 million loss in the fiscal quarter ending in May.

According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, the closing date for Ithaca depends on the liquidation and final sell-through, but the store manager has reportedly said October is likely. Ithaca is one of ten locations closing in New York. The store is offering up to 30% off on inventory as of Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Other locations are unaffected, including Cortland, Binghamton, and Auburn, but in July the company warned bankruptcy is possible, and more store closures are likely.
