ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — At an all-faculty meeting on October 13th, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Melanie Stein announced the school’s potential plan to consolidate their five schools into three.

According to The Ithacan, Stein said the idea comes from the college’s desire to address student needs, financial challenges, and pressures on higher education.

Currently, Ithaca College has five schools with focuses on various academic disciplines, including the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, School of Humanities and Sciences, School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, School of Business and the Roy H. Park School of Communications. The proposed merger would change the schools from five to three, including the School of Health, Technology and Scientific Discovery, the Roy H. Park School of Communication, Society and Enterprise, and the School of Performing, Visual and Media Arts.

Stein said the potential new vision for the college is not yet final and is in early stages of development. Get more details about the college’s potential new direction in The Ithacan’s article here.
