ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — An Ithaca museum is getting ready to show off a new exhibit.

The Museum of the Earth says a recent RIT graduate created a life-size dinosaur model for his class project. Andrew Bovenzi says it took him 10 months to create the 19-foot-long model hadrosaur, which was a plant-eating dinosaur.

“It’s my favorite dinosaur,” Bovenzi said. “[I’ve had] a years-long passion for the animal and its locality.”

Bovenzi decided to donate the model after graduating. “Andrew contacted us and asked if we would be interested in having the model after he displayed it in his senior show,” museum director Warren Allmon said. “When we saw it in person, we knew it would be a really wonderful addition to our exhibits, many of which focus on the interconnection of art and paleontology. It’s an impressive feat of paleoart.”

It’ll be on display starting in early June.
