TRUMANSBURG, NY (607NewsNow) — On Tuesday, January 13th, the Living Essence Massage Institute (LEMI) officially opened its doors in Trumansburg.

Located at 1891 State Route 96, LEMI is bringing a full-time massage therapy education option back to the Ithaca area with enrollment opportunities every 10 weeks.

At the ceremony, LEMI Founder Rachel Hogancamp said the journey of bringing the school to life was one that cemented their presence in the community.

“It feels like another point of saying, ‘Okay, we’re here, we’re a part of this.’ Our work is to bring more massage therapists into the world because it’s needed, especially in current times. We need contact with each other, to be present with one another, and we’re now able to provide that for the community,” said Hogancamp.

LEMI will also be offering a public clinic, meaning there will be opportunities to get massages from the students in exchange for feedback.
