Locke man wanted on gun charge taken into custody in Cortland County

LOCKE, NY (607NewsNow) – A wanted Cayuga County man is in custody.

On January 22, members of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop.

Deputies discovered the driver, Theodore Strauf, of Locke, had an outstanding arrest warrant in Cayuga County. On November 14, 2025, authorities were called to an address in the Town of Locke for a report of a person with a gun. The 56-year-old Strauf, who had left before police arrived, is accused of possessing the weapon while having a previous felony conviction.

Strauf is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.

Strauf was turned over to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office for arraignment. He’s scheduled to appear in Locke Town Court on February 4.
