WASHINGTON, DC (607NewsNow) — Congressman John Mannion wants his pay stopped.

Ahead of the government shutdown, Mannion sent a letter to the congressional chief administrative officer asking for his salary to be withheld until the shutdown ends. Mannion says members of Congress “should play by the same rules as others” in the federal workforce.

Mannion, who represents the 22nd Congressional district, adds he stands in solidarity with the over 6,500 federal workers districtwide. His district includes the city of Cortland.
