ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — New Roots has added a new school.

The Ithaca charter school now has a middle school option, serving 50 students in grades 6-8. Superintendent Tina Nilsen-Hodges says David Streib is serving as dean of the school, calling his longtime role as science teacher at New Roots a ‘driving force’ in their success.

“David’s quiet leadership as a faculty member has been a driving force in our success as a school for fifteen years. I am thrilled that he has stepped into this role of providing teachers with inspiration, support and leadership in the areas of curriculum and instruction as New Roots grows,” Nilsen-Hodges said.

New Roots was formed in 2009 in downtown Ithaca and continues serving high school students.
