CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – The family of a 2-year-old allegedly abused at the SUNY Cortland Child Care Center is suing.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports the parents are seeking $10 million in damages from the state in a lawsuit filed on June 1.

It follows the late April and early May arrests of four center employees accused of physically and emotionally abusing children.

Three of the four defendants appeared in court on Monday for arraignment on charges of endangering the welfare of a child. All three pleaded not guilty.

According to SUNY Cortland, the Child Care Center is a nonprofit that operates independently on campus.
