HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – Two men from Homer face charges after a break in a larceny investigation.

On January 12, State Police located a dirt bike listed by Clayton Carley on Facebook Marketplace that was reported stolen from Oswego County in August 2024.

When investigators arrived at Carley’s home, the 26-year-old claimed the bike had been sold and was “evasive, dismissive, and uncooperative.” Troopers say he provided intentionally false information regarding the sale.

Two days later, police returned and executed a search warrant at the Carley residence. The following items were seized:

  • three handguns
  • five assault weapons
  • a loaded shotgun with a barrel length under 16 inches
  • multiple high-capacity ammunition feeding devices
  • approximately 18 pounds of cannabis flower
  • approximately 6 pounds of concentrated cannabis
  • approximately 5 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms
  • more than 12 mature marijuana plants and over 50 immature plants
  • two daggers
  • one baton
  • brass knuckles
  • more than 40 rifles and shotguns
  • U.S. currency in excess of $5,000
  • a stolen 2024 motorcycle

Clayton and Jeffrey Carley, 60, were arrested. Both men face the following charges:

  • criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree (loaded firearm) (felony)
  • criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree (intent to sell) (felony)
  • criminal possession of an assault weapon 3rd degree (felony)
  • criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (three or more firearms) (felony)
  • criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree (ammunition feeding device) (felony)
  • three counts criminal possession of a firearm (felony)
  • criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree (property value exceeds $1,000) (felony)
  • four counts criminal possession of a weapon (class A misdemeanor)
  • criminal possession of a controlled substance (class A misdemeanor)

Investigators determined that Clayton Carley sold the stolen dirt bike to someone in Buffalo. State Police in Troop D contacted the buyer, who cooperated fully and arranged to surrender the dirt bike to troopers in Hastings, NY.

No information about the stolen motorcycle seized during the execution of the search warrant was released.
