ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A pilot program from TCAT is starting soon.

The transit company will launch eRide Ithaca on June 1. “The new seven-day-a-week service with an electric fleet of four vans and four cars will provide trips that must begin or end in a service area encompassing West Hill, West End and Ithaca Flats,” the transit company said.

Rides will cost passengers $5 and can be requested through an app available for Apple and Android devices.

“Riders can travel to and from a “drop-off zone” covering southwest Ithaca shopping centers, professional offices, parks, medical facilities including Cayuga Medical Center, and schools within the Ithaca City School District,” officials stated.

TCAT says the program’s goal is to fill transportation gaps.
