ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – You can learn about flooding and its potential impacts in Ithaca.

On October 14, the Tompkins Chamber is hosting a workshop about new Tompkins County flood maps from FEMA and how they may affect you.

Bailey Place Insurance Vice President Val VanGorder will be on hand to discuss flood insurance, what it is, what it covers, and why you may need it. VanGorder has been involved in flood insurance since 2009, is the former Co-Chair of the City of Cortland Flood Task Force, a FEMA flood insurance referral agent, and a former Cortland Common Council alderperson.

The L.E.A.R.N. workshop takes place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on October 14, at the Tompkins Chamber building on Brindley Street. You can also attend via Zoom.

The workshop is free and open to Tompkins County residents. Register here.
