Weekend top picks: Movies in the Park, Arts Off Main Festival, and more local events

(CortacaToday) — Looking for something to do this weekend? Try these weekend top picks for fun activities in Cortland and Tompkins counties:

Arts Off Main Festival:

This festival takes place on August 3rd, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features artist vendors, live music, art activities, food vendors, wine, and beer. Located on Court Street between Main Street and Church Street in Cortland, make sure to check out the Arts Off Main Festival to see more of the local art scene. Movies in the Park:

Starting this Friday, August 2nd, the tenth season of Movies in the Park begins with a showing of “Wonka”. Hosted by the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce and CNY Attractions, the movie will be shown at Stewart Park at 7 p.m. Keep up with the Movies in the Park Facebook to learn more.

Hector Family A-Fair:

Located at the fairgrounds at 5736 State Route 14 in Hector and offering activities such as helicopter rides and axe throwing, the Hector Family A-Fair aims to support multiple nonprofits within the community. With a beer and wine tent as well as food trucks, there will be plenty of entertainment and food on both August 2nd from 5-10 p.m. and August 3rd 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for those who attend. Cortland Race Against Hunger and Fun Run:

Aiming to raise awareness about the lack of food resources for those in need, the Salvation Army will be hosting the second annual Cortland Race Against Hunger and Fun Run on Saturday, August 3rd at 8:30 a.m. at Yaman Park. All proceeds from the event go towards helping those in need in Cortland County. Learn more about how to register here.

Animal Ambassador Encounters:

At noon on Saturday, head to the Cayuga Nature Center to learn about their animal ambassadors. Nature Center Educators will bring out a few animals for visitors to learn about.
