OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — New life is coming to a decades-old eatery in Tioga County.

Upstate Shredding CEO Adam Weitsman has purchased the former Metro’s Restaurant and Pizza Bar on Route 96. The restaurant first opened in 1950, but is currently closed.

“I grew up in Owego, and Metro’s was part of this town for as long as I can remember,” Weitsman said. “I didn’t want to see that building sit empty. We want to bring something fresh to the site while respecting what Metro’s means to the generations of people who gathered there.”

Weitsman owns restaurants in Skaneateles, including The Krab and Elephant & The Dove. Once a name and plans to re-open are figured out, Weitsman says he’ll share more details.
